Photo walk in Porvoo with Lily and K
I took a short photo walk in the Old Town of Porvoo, invited by my cousin Lily and her husband K.
This part of the city, harking back to medieval times, is a tourist magnet, especially during summer. Not now. Spring is late, and the weather couldn't have been worse: rain, mist, icy streets, and falling darkness. But we decided to make it good.
Here are our best shots in mixed order. They are very different from the average tourist view of Porvoo, even though many of our pictures show the medieval church, one of the most photographed buildings in the Old Town.
How different the images are! One of us is telling a story in every single picture, one is making abstractions, and one is showing things how they really are.
I wish I had taken ALL these pictures myself, but I couldn't have. It would have required me to become three people. This shows how much better we always are, when we work together.
(There was a beautiful small plaza with mighty trees, yellow streetlights reflecting from the surrounding walls and planks, and pools of light and shadow. We all thought it was the best sight of the evening, but no one of us managed to take a good picture of it. Next time, maybe!)
